Join our breakfast session on BIOENERGY, with discussion and informal networking at Corso Como (WTC Amsterdam) in Amsterdam on 5 July 2016, from 08:00AM to 10:15AM.
Bioenergy is an important ingredient for the Netherlands to meet its renewable energy targets in 2020 and 2023. The Dutch government has therefore made several instruments available for developing bioenergy projects. This has resulted in a large number of bioenergy projects that have already been realized, and a sharp increase in the number of bioenergy projects is expected.
Following two previously organized breakfast events (one on Offshore Wind and one on Energy Storage), DNV GL will guide you in this event through the bankability of bioenergy projects. We will provide you, with contributions from Eneco and Stadsverwarming Purmerend, with insights in the latest developments on business opportunities, financial and technical risks, business cases and best practices.
Welcome & introduction
Eneco BioStoom by Eneco
As of December 2016, Eneco Bio Golden Raand will deliver biosteam to Chemiepark Delfzijl. For this purpose, Eneco makes the electricityplant suitable for the production of steam as well as electricity. Delivering biosteam to industrial customers helps to accelerate in reaching our mission “sustainable energy for everyone”. We are now investigating the biosteam opportunities for other industrial clients and develop several biosteam projects. We will inform you on what parties benefit most from integrating biosteam, the parameters that define the business case, the acceptance of biosteam within the industry and how to mitigate what kind of risks. We inform you on the CO2 reduction that can be achieved by Dutch industry and the current relevant discussion on sustainability criteria for biomass. “Welcome in the new world.” Presented by Eric van Herel.
Case Purmerend: setup and experience - by Stadsverwarming Purmerend
Since 2014, district heating company Stadsverwarming Purmerend has been operating its biomass fired heat plant “BioWarmteCentrale de Purmer” and two auxiliary heat plants. The biomass fired heat plant (44 MWth) converts 100.000 tons of wood chips to heat annually. This covers 80% of the 25.000 customer’s heat demand. Gijs de Man, CEO Stadsverwarming Purmerend, will present why Stadsverwarming Purmerend has decided for a biomass fired boiler, how the project evolved, what have been the major opportunities and threats, and what entailed the project’s development, financing and realization steps. De Man will also elaborate on the financial-operational experiences with the project.
From bioenergy potential to bankable projects - by DNV GL
DNV GL's Ronald Meijer will take you on a journey elaborating on the potential, the key success factors, the risks and opportunities of a bioenergy project. What will you encounter, and how can you overcome the challenges you face? And what is the impact of your choices? Also an introduction on the transition to a bioeconomy and its potential is presented.
Wrap up & discussion
We offer you this platform, where various stakeholders with interests in the bioenergy industry will meet and share insights and best practices. We have invited a small and select group of people - for optimal interaction - coming from the finance industry, from utilities and project developers.
There will be plenty of room for discussion and networking over coffee in a relaxed setting.
Don't hesitate and register for our exclusive breakfast event today! Please register at your earliest convenience, as space is limited. This event is free of charge.
