Join our breakfast session on ENERGY STORAGE, with discussion and informal networking at Corso Como (WTC Triple Ace) in Amsterdam on Thursday March 31, from 08:00 AM to 10:15 AM.
Energy storage is viewed as the technology to enable cost-effective facilitation of grid modernization, with full potential for renewable energy generation and distribution. Early stage energy storage projects have been traditionally funded through cash or owner-operated sources in demonstration projects. Many recent examples show that energy storage projects are becoming bankable: lenders are supported in this by independent engineering firms with risk mitigation and assessment reports on specific projects. Compared to financing in wind and solar, energy storage has the potential for multiple use applications enabling variable revenue streams. This flexibility can be seen as an opportunity for creative project development, but at the same time it can be seen as a risk to realizing full revenue projections.
At our exclusive breakfast session, DNV GL will guide you, with contributions from Uniper (formerly E.ON) and TenneT, through the bankability of energy storage projects with insights in the latest developments on business opportunities, financial and technical risks, business cases and best practices.
Welcome & introduction
Market potential & developments in energy storage - by Uniper (formerly E.ON)
The market for energy storage solutions is moving fast. Key drivers for that development are the building up of intermittent generation, the reduction of conventional generation and high regulatory goals for emission reductions. Tobias Mischlau will explore current market developments for energy storage and discuss some of the most promising energy storage solutions for the next years. Furthermore he will put the spotlight on the main barriers for market entry and major current risks.
TSOs and Energy storage - by TenneT
Bianca van Ommen and Jorinde Bettink wil answer the following questions: what are the current and upcoming trends in the energy sector? What is the role of a TSO with regard to energy storage (ES)? How do ES technologies develop? What will be the implications of these trends for the operating environment of TenneT? Technological developments are disrupting the markets – how does TenneT respond to these challenges?
Recommended practice / guidelines for grid-connected energy storage systems - by DNV GL
Haike van de Vegte will explain which business models and risk-mitigation services are needed to facilitate bankability and market growth. How can technology evaluation assessments and project assessments contribute to your business case and optimize confidence in funding? What is the added value of the GRIDSTOR Recommended Practice for grid-connected energy storage?
Wrap up & discussion
We offer you this platform where various stakeholders with interests in the energy storage industry will meet and share insights and best practices. We have invited a small and select group of people - for optimal interaction - coming from the finance industry, from utilities and of course project developers. There will be plenty of room for discussion and networking over coffee in a relaxed setting.
