Manufacturers can use the recommended practice to support their design activities and to demonstrate safe performance equivalent to steel or traditional flexibles for pipelines or risers.

With the collapse of the oil price and the necessity of cost reduction across the value chain, new technologies are required to make the exploration and extraction of such resources commercially viable. The new thermoplastic composite pipes (TCPs) may offer a solution to the challenges by providing a flexible, light and strong alternative to the traditional metallic pipes currently in use. TCPs with their exceptionally high strength to weight ratio and simple configuration, potentially provide a significant reduction in installation and operational costs and high deployment efficiency.
The TCPs are more flexible than their thermoset traditional composite cousin pipes allowing the thermoplastic pipes to be used in applications where higher bending strains are needed such as exploration and extraction environments.
As with every new technology, one of the main questions facing TCPs is their safety and qualification. To address those questions DNVGL-RP-F119 Thermoplastic composite pipes was developed through a DNV GL-led joint industry project involving 18 companies covering the entire TCP supply chain; from polymer producers and TCP manufacturers, to oil companies as the end users.
Join this webinar to learn:
- The benefits of TCP
- Recommendations and key information
- Failure mechanisms of TCP
- Short- and long-term design criteria
- TCP analysis and testing requirements.
This webinar will be of interest to pipeline managers and engineers, pipeline manufacturers, operations and maintenance managers and materials analysts.
